V2_ offers (live) streams of events that take place at V2_. These live streams are archived and can be seen on-demand afterwards. All recent streams are available in QuickTime. Some of the older streams are available in the RealMedia format only. Live streams are shown at live.v2.nl.
There is not much you need to watch our video streams. Of course you need a internet connection - but that seems to be OK. As most of our streams are broadcasted at 512 kbit/s, a regular DSL or cable connection should suffice. Apart from the connection, you need a video player. For QuickTime streams, you can use, among others, the QuickTime and VLC. The live streams can be watched embedded. In other words, if there is a live stream it'll be shown in the web page at live.v2.nl. If the live stream doesn't play automagically, try to open the address in your player directly.
It's hardly a surprise, but you won't have any problem watching the QuickTime streams when you are using a computer running OSX. The QuickTime player is pre-installed with OSX. On the Windows platform, the QuickTime player is rarely pre-installed. The player comes with iTunes and, of course, can be installed seperately after having it downloaded from the Apple website first. There is no QuickTime Player for Linux, VLC is probably the best option.
For all platforms, the alternative VLC is working. On a Debian-based Linux computer, you would need to install the packages "vlc" and "mozilla-plugin-vlc". In VLC, the QuickTime streams will not play, unless you change a configuration setting. Under Preferences, go to "Input / Codecs", then go to "Demuxers", then select "Advanced" in the bottom of the window, finaly enable "Use RTP over RTSP (TCP)". After this, the embedded streams should be working immediatelly.
If you have troubles watching V2_ streams, or if you have additional questions, feel free to send an e-mail to live@v2.nl.
